When a mythical sonic firebird — named after an Orange Juice B-side — curiously decided to diminish its euphoric signal-to-noise ratio into deafening silence, some of its former members accidentally found themselves swirling in Japanese ambient, obscure Eastern European jazz, City Pop, and good old nostalgia amidst numerous Sunday night synth jams. It was sometime in 2015 when their penchant for surfing sine waves, drum machines, stomp boxes, digging for ridiculously arcane gems, and subtractive synthesis morphed into Blue Dissolve. It was arguably inevitable. With incestuous lineage that can be traced all the way back to the legendary mid-1990’s No Zone, Blue Dissolve’s provenance reveal a who’s who of local pioneers — from Fingernail Cocktail and Candyaudioline, all the way to Soul Connection and Moscow Olympics. Though never truly forgetting their shoegaze origins, they are now purveyors of dreamy soundscapes, lazy balearic beats, and audible snapshots of mono no aware.
