Celadon is Francis’ new side project — dreamy romantic melodies combined with a sad disco feel, it’s a synthesized impression of Francis’ make-believe synesthesia. Some may know him more as Archaster. Formed after Fingernail Cocktail disbanded sometime in the late 1990’s and having been inspired by Stephin Merritt’s music and songwriting style, Archaster has evolved to become one of the best kept secrets in the dreamy sadcore melancholia sub-genre. This solo bedroom pop project has earned him international releases through labels like Dufflecoat and Little Treasure. Now based in Edmonton in Canada, he is embarking on a new musical journey as Celadon but shoegaze and dream pop will always be his first love and remains as a major aesthetic influence on the songs he creates.
