Closer - A Further Shore

In 1995, Closer was formed in New York City with four lads attending college uptown — Jesse, Jude, Erik, and Francisco (whose mother is from Manila), and one lass attending college downtown — Lorraine (whose parents come from Bicol). While braving a music scene that had largely moved on from shoegaze, they found themselves courted by EMI in 1996. When that didn’t pan out, the band soldiered on until calling it a day two years later. However, energized by nostalgia at their approaching 25th anniversary, Closer dug into their archives and revived an improvised instrumental from 1996, with Lorraine recording freshly minted lyrics and melodies. Their first new song in 24 years, A Further Shore, was released digitally by Mother West in April 2020. Find them on Bandcamp: closer5.bandcamp.com
